Overview

The Project Accountant reports to the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager and supports all activities within the Project Accounting Team. The role works closely with the Professional Services Organisation (PSO), the Revenue Recognition Team, and other cross-functional departments. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of professional services orders, while maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies. The role also provides commercial and analytical support to help drive business growth and profitability within the Professional Services function

Responsibilities

  • Process Professional Services Organisation (PSO) orders accurately and on time. 

  • Record and manage accounting transactions including invoices, credit memos, rebills, revenues, costs, accruals, expired service revenues, and inter/intra-company transactions. 

  • Code transactions to the General Ledger and perform calculations for job cost rates. 

  • Partner with the PSO team to provide commercial and analytical decision support to maximise growth and profitability. 

  • Review Professional Services orders from Sales and PSO teams and resolve any issues before completing project set-up. 

  • Ensure adherence to Professional Services order processing policies, procedures, and schedules. 

  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of global PSO-related balance sheet accounts. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Corporate Project Accounting, Sales, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Accounting to resolve issues. related to project accounting transactions or processes. 

  • Maintain compliance with company systems, policies, controls, and procedures while supporting the strategic direction of the business. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvements towards business processes and systems implementation within a fast-paced software environment. 

Qualifications

 

  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and professional services revenue recognition principles. 

  • Experience working in a US GAAP-compliant software or SaaS company. 

  • Hands-on experience with Workday (preferred), RevPro, and Oracle ERP systems. 

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 

  • Progress toward a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA. 

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Project Accounting. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and support continuous business process improvements.
