-Provide sound technology leadership for product management that aligns with business goals and product roadmaps
-Highest level technical expert for executive leadership team (CEO, Sales, PM, Support)
-Direct and participate in proof-of-concept implementation
-Mediate technology discussions for major new features and products
-Highlight cross-product technology synergies and champion reuse of common components and platforms
-Technical analysis and due-diligence for acquisitions
-Recommend post-acquisition alignment of technologies with existing components and platforms
-Identify and champion innovation projects that surface from engineering, professional services, pre-sales, and partners
-Make recommendations for patent applications
-Decide technical value/risk of open-sourcing code
-Participate in public standards organizations (IETF, W3C. etc)
-Participate in customer-facing advisory board to vet new technology and provide targeted feedback to engineering and product management
-Expert technology communicator - should be able to explain technical concepts at all levels, from high-level executive briefing, to in-depth conversations with developers (and every level in between: Product managers, Sales Engineers, Support, etc)
-Experienced technology decision maker - should have extensive experience working with engineers and product managers to be the final "decider" on design approaches and technology. In interview, candidates should be able to talk about dozens of situations where they've made correct (and incorrect) architecture decisions that affect multiple products. we're not looking for a one-product CTO
-Scrum background – should have experience working with agile development and play appropriate roles in sprint demos and stand-up meetings
-Microsoft background - Should have working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and products including the following: Windows desktops/servers, Terminal Services (RDP), Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange, Office 365 and Azure (especially Azure AD), and Visual Studio
-Unix/Linux background - Should have working or developer experience on with Linux operating systems including, developer tools (GNU tools), package systems (DEB,RPM, etc), security and identity subsystems (PAM/NSS) and Secure Shell (ssh)
-Networking background - Should have working knowledge of directory and authentication protocols: LDAP, SCIM, RADIUS, KERBEROS, OAUTH, SAML, OIDC
-Database and storage background - Should have working knowledge of SQL databases (cosmos, postgres, mariadb) and no-sql databases (mongodb, Cassandra, dynamo, etc), caching (REDIS/memcache), consensus (etcd), events, queues, etc
-Cloud platform background - Should have working knowledge of docker, kubernetes and have experience deploying virtual machines, storage, networks, and database on AWS and Azure.
-Comfortable learning new concepts with practical hands on learning. The candidate can’t be one that is accustomed to living in an ivory tower. They should be willing to install our products, learn how they work and understand the APIs and interoperability aspects. They need to earn the trust of developers in order to be effective in the role. Developers don’t respect decisions made by someone who doesn’t understand their product or the technologies used by the product
-15+ years experience in Enterprise Software Development with an emphasize of Security, Authentication, and Identity Management.
-Computer Science degree or equivalent
-Travel requirement is required once travel restrictions are lifted
