Responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing Pre-Sales technical consulting to promote primarily the Database Performance solutions across North America, as well as the wider Information Management solutions. Individuals in this role should possess a real passion for database and performance monitoring technologies. You will participate in the sales process by showing how customers can use our database monitoring solutions (Foglight, Spotlight, and others) to solve their problems and more easily manage their database environments. Senior Sales Engineers play a crucial role in the team and work closely with Sales, Marketing and Product Management. You will serve as a technical software authority within the organization and with Quest's strategic customers.

  • Provide pre-sales technical support to promote Quest Software’s database performance solutions via the telephone, remote technologies and onsite engagements
  • Manage Proof-of-Concept engagements throughout the entire sales cycle
  • Represent Quest Software’s Information Management solutions at relevant trade shows and user groups
  • Contribute as an effective member of a sales team by attending sales calls and hosting technical sessions
  • Provides influence and authoritative advice to internal and external audiences at the most senior levels
  • Contribute to internal and external database related community media by delivering thought leadership content via trade show presentations, writing blog posts and generating white papers 
  • Builds external alliances with customers and industry experts to gain and share information and industry trends
  • Relays customer feedback to assist with the future development of Quest Software's technology, products, and services
  • Assumes leadership role in analyzing requirements and performing advanced systems integration and
    providing technical expertise to design and implement solution across breadth of Quest Software and third-party products and services.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of related experience or combination of experience and education
  • 8+ years of presales experience required, particularly with strategic and global accounts
  • 8+ years of hands on database experience
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle database systems, ranging from how to troubleshoot performance problems as well as High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts
  • Knowledge of NoSQL offerings like Cassandra and MongoDB
  • Knowledge and experience of managing databases in the Cloud, as well as Cloud Databases
  • Ability to present and discuss current technology as it relates to database platforms at all levels of customer contact, particularly executive-level audiences and IT decision-makers
  • Travel required up to 50%.
